Who Not To Draft

 There are always great players in the NFL draft, but there are also busts. In this blog post, I will be briefly running through players I don't think will live up to expectations in the NFL. This could be for a variety of reasons, whether it be on the field performance or off the field issues. For some players, they could still be good players, just not as good as they are regarded coming out of college. For a little background, I truly don't think there are many great players in this draft class to begin with. 

Jaxson Dart. I believe whatever team picks him in the draft is wasting their pick. It is nothing against Dart, but I don't think he is very good at football. He won some games at Ole Miss, but I don't really know what he is good at. He doesn't have a particularly good arm, he is kind of mobile, I guess, and doesn't read defenses well. I just don't understand the hype around him, and I think he will be a career backup. 

I don't think Mason Graham will be a bad NFL player, I just don't think he is good enough to be selected in the top 10 (which he probably will be). This is a little worrisome as a Bears fan, as I don't want them to pick him. He wasn't great in college, and Michigan really struggled while he was there. I understand that was not the defense's fault, but I believe Will Johnson was far more impactful than Graham. I could see him bouncing around the league being an average tackle. 

Lastly, most people are going to disagree with this take a lot. I don't think Travis Hunter will be nearly as good as people make him out to be. He was good in college; that is certainly clear. I don't think he is good at wide receiver, at all. I think he is a freak of nature athlete who is good at cornerback and should focus on that. That doesn't seem to be the case, as he said he will sit out unless he plays wide receiver. He was not even the best wide receiver on his team last year (Jimmy Horn), and I will be surprised if he ends up being a good receiver in the NFL.

    This is an interesting read, as someone unfamiliar with the Draft this year. After seeing countless posts on social, I decided to do some more research on players and teams. I did see the moment when Mason Graham was picked and it was interesting to see other people's reactions as well.

Thoughts on the draft

 Well, there were some surprises in the draft, and also some things anyone could see coming. Cam Ward ended up going number 1. Shadeur Sanders ended up getting drafted in the fifth round. I was not the biggest fan of Shadeur coming out of Colorado, but I think he is better than a lot of quarterbacks who got drafted before him. I think it's less on him as a player, and more on teams not wanting to deal with Deon.  The Bears ended up having a great draft. I am a big fan of picking Colston Loveland at pick #10, even though many are saying it was a reach. I understand Tyler Warren may have been better in college, but Ben Johnson is looking for a Sam Laporta-type player. Not only that, but picking up Luther Burden in the second round is an absolute steal. Patriots and Jaguars on the Clock

 The Patriots are organizationally in a good spot right now. It may not seem that way because of the brutal season they had, but they have close to all of the pieces to field a competitive team. Drake Maye surprised me with his level of play, and he made it clear New England should build around him. With that being said, I think it makes the most sense for the Patriots to try to trade down (preferably with the Panthers at #8) and try to get more picks, while also sneaking out with Tetairoa McMillan. The best thing for this Patriots team would be to get an elite weapon to help with Drake Maye's development, and it looks like McMillan has all of the tools. I will say, McMillan's draft stock relies very heavily upon his combine performance, but I think he will test well. He may not be as fast as some of the other WR's taken in the first round, but his 6'5 frame and change of direction should overcome that. How the 2025 NFL Draft Will Look for the Titans.

     Hello, I am Jack Houlihan and this is my blog 2025 NFL Draft Talk. I'm sure by the name you could probably figure out what this blog will be about, yes, what teams should do in the NFL draft. That will be the main topic of this blog, but free agency will get brought up a little bit too because they go hand in hand.
