NFL Draft Chicago Bears

Being a Bears fan, I know more about what the Bears need than any other team, and they are in a very good spot. Hiring Ben Johnson was the best move the Bears could have made during the offseason. I am very excited to see an offensive minded head coach in Chicago, especially with Caleb Williams. There was no question that the Bears' offensive line was horrible last year, and I was very opinionated that they should take a lineman in the draft. My thoughts have recently changed on this.

The Bears have added two starting linemen in the last 2 days, and I wouldn't be against the idea of a lineman in the draft, but I think they could fill our their offensive line with the addition of Drew Dalman in free agency. There are a few other positions I could see the Bears taking with pick #10. A defensive end would be very useful, but I see Ben Johnson wanting to get his premier running back with Ashton Jeanty. When he was with the Lions, they drafted Jahmyr Gibbs early in the first round, and I think they'll do the same. The Bears have De'Andre Swift ,(who Ben Johnson and the Lions got rid of) and Roschon Johnson in their backfield, and I see Ben Johnson wanting to change that early.

With that being said, I think it is so easy to get value at the running back position late in the draft. My ideal situation for the bears would be Mason Graham being available at #10, but I don't see that happening. Being more realistic, the Bears should take Mykel Williams. Adding a good passing rushing defensive end alongside Montez Sweat is one of the best moves the Bears could make. This would allow them to bolster up their defense while still being able to take offensive linemen and a running back or two later in the draft. Mykel Williams was very good at Georgia and showed his size and speed at the combine. I think the Bears and Dennis Allen would be a great fit, and he would benefit from the structure of the Bears' defense.

Looking later in the draft, some running backs I would love to take late are Quinshon Judkins, Treveyon Henderson, and Donovan Edwards. I like the Ohio State backs more than Edwards because they have less mileage on them from splitting carries, but I think Edwards was used wrong at Michigan. I would be happy if the Bears ended up with either of them, or some other backs even further back in the draft.
