What to do with the Raiders and Jets

The Raiders are in a decent spot for the future. They have lots of money as an organization, a great offensive weapon in Brock Bowers, and a great defensive weapon in Maxx Crosby. Their biggest need is without a doubt quarterback. They cannot have Aidan O' Connell under center to start next year. This is why it is a good idea for the Raiders to go with Shedeur Sanders. If Denzel Ward is available, they should draft him, but I don't see that happening.

Sanders is a decent quarterback prospect, who would fit in with the culture in Las Vegas. It is tough to really know how good Sanders is, playing a horrible schedule at Colorado, while also having Jimmy Horn Jr. and Travis Hunter to throw to. He has shown he has plenty of arm talent, which is a must in today's NFL. His biggest criticism is his ability to get through his reads quickly. The Raiders don't have a great offensive line, so this could be a concern. Nonetheless, I don't see a better opportunity for the Raiders than to draft a quarterback with this spot, so they are very dependent on Ward or Sanders falling to pick #6.

The Jets are in a bad spot. They just paid the house for Aaron Rodgers, who is not going to be with them for the 2025 season. Garett Wilson is very good, Quinnen Williams is very good, and the combination of Breece Hall and Braelon Allen will be good for many years. Similar to the Raiders, the Jets need a quarterback and other positions. I don't think Sauce Gardner is nearly as good as everyone makes him out to be. He gives up a ton of yards, catches, and misses tackles consistently in open field. I don't think he is a bad cornerback, I just don't think he is in the top 5 like most people make him out to be.

With that being said, I think it makes the most sense for the Jets to pick Will Johnson. I don't think any of the premier quarterbacks will be available, and Johnson would immediately be a starter. Having Johnson, Gardner, and DJ Reed would be one of, if not the best cornerback group in the NFL. I don't think they need a defensive lineman very much, Quinnen Williams already takes multiple blockers. I think it would be interesting if a quarterback were to fall. I could see Sanders potentially being here, who I would pick if he were available.

  1. These are two teams who either have been or are in desperate need of a Quarterback. They both have phenomenal talents with Hall, Wilson, and Williams on the Jets and Bowers and Crosby on the Raiders. Therefore I agree they can't rush drafting a QB because if they pick the wrong one the tanking cycle starts all over again.
