Panthers and Saints on the Clock
The Panthers had a promising season. Bryce Young took giant steps, which is a huge huge plus for the organization. The Panthers either need to build around Bryce Young, or take a defensive player. If the Panthers want to build around Bryce Young, they need to trade down later into the 1st and take either Emeke Ebuka or Luther Burden. BUT, the defense needs so much help, they need to take a defensive player. I think there are a couple of different ways the Panthers can get this draft right, but it will take a mix of offensive and defensive players.
This is why Mason Graham is the best pick for the Panthers. He is a day 1 impact starter, and the Panthers still have more picks in the draft. Graham was a monster at Michigan, and would probably be the Panthers' best tackle on day 1. Taking Mason Graham with their first pick would allow them to focus on offensive weapons for Bryce Young. I would trade up a bit with their second-round pick, trying to ensure they get a good wide receiver.
The Saints are in a bad spot. They don't have a franchise quarterback, and they don't have a good enough pick to get one. Alvin Kamara is getting older, Chris Olave is in concussion protocol every week, and Taysom Hill should not be a big part of their offense. They need basically every position in the draft but don't have a great pick. I'm really unsure what the Saints should do. I think it would probably be the most smart to trade down, but if they don't, they should pick Walter Nolen.
Walter Nolen is without a doubt going to be a good NFL defensive tackle. I think he and Mason Graham are both studs, but they play a little differently. If either are there, I could see the Saints picking him. I don't really know how much help 1 player will be to the Saints though, they have so many gaps to fill. The best thing for them to do would be for them to trade down and just try to get as many picks as they can.
