 There are always great players in the NFL draft, but there are also busts. In this blog post, I will be briefly running through players I don't think will live up to expectations in the NFL. This could be for a variety of reasons, whether it be on the field performance or off the field issues. For some players, they could still be good players, just not as good as they are regarded coming out of college. For a little background, I truly don't think there are many great players in this draft class to begin with.  Jaxson Dart. I believe whatever team picks him in the draft is wasting their pick. It is nothing against Dart, but I don't think he is very good at football. He won some games at Ole Miss, but I don't really know what he is good at. He doesn't have a particularly good arm, he is kind of mobile, I guess, and doesn't read defenses well.  Every year, there are players not talked about a lot in the draft that make a big impact on the team they are drafted to. There are always players I watch during college football season that I think won't measure well or test well, but they are simply good at football. Sometimes the measurements and analytics just don't matter if someone is that good at what they do. On the other hand, some players are projects, and they take years to reach their full potential, so it is always a tough choice. In this blog, I will be going through two of the players I don't think get talked about a lot, but they could make a big impact on a team.  To start, Mike Green from Marshall has the potential to be incredibly good in the NFL. He measures pretty poorly at a small 6"3 251. This is undersized for an NFL defensive end, but he is so quick and explosive that it could not affect him much in the NFL.  There are many different things to consider when scouting NFL draft prospects. Not only do skill, athleticism, age, and playstyle affect how NFL teams view prospects, but there is way more that goes into it. Just to start, positions are graded differently based on the position's importance. Some people who don't watch a lot of football may assume running backs are a premier position because of how often they touch the ball, but it really could not be further from the truth. It is so easy to find good running backs later in the draft, and you only have to pay them a fraction of what the top guys are getting paid. The reason they don't get paid a lot is because of how many hits they take, it wouldn't be logical for teams to pay a lot of money for these guys just for a couple of years of production.  The San Francisco 49ers hit a home run a couple of drafts ago taking Brock Purdy. Being able to draft a serviceable quarterback in the seventh round is the blueprint to being able to surround him with talent. Although this is true, Purdy just received his extension, so they don't have that luxury anymore. The 49ers are paying so many players so much money, so they need to really observe what position would be the best for them to secure for the future.  With that being said, there are many different ways they could go in this draft. It would make the most sense for the 49ers to go for a left tackle, depending on who is left. I understand they have one of, if not the best left tackle in the NFL. Trent Williams is very good, and he just signed a three-year extension, but it will be crucial to have another left tackle in place.  Obviously, being good at football in college is a big determinant of how early you will get drafted, but it is not everything. Honestly, it varies by position, but there are certain players that have characteristics that will allow them to get drafted earlier.  For example, a big thing nowadays is monitoring how many snaps running backs take all the way from high school. They take wear and tear more than any other position and have the shortest careers, so it is important to try to get a good one while they don't have many snaps on them. Another determinant is age, in general, the younger the prospect is the more interest he will create from teams.  For quarterback, the ability to process reads quickly is the most important factor. This is really hard to evaluate, but all of the bests quarterbacks can progress through their reads quickly. For offensive linemen, health is a very important factor.  This has been a hot start to free agency, particularly for the Chicago Bears. In the last two weeks, they have added three starting offensive linemen (one of which is Drew Dalman, whom I said I thought they would sign last week). Other than the new starting center Dalman, they have added starting left guard Joe Thuney, starting defensive tackle Grady Jarett, and starting defensive end Dayo Odeyingbo. This is a monstrous start to free agency, with the draft still being underway. Personally, I would not have signed Odeyingbo, I would have went with Khalil Mack, Josh Sweat, or Joey Bosa. After signing one of these experienced ends, I would then draft an end with my pick. The Bears bet on Odeyingbo getting better, and hopefully it is right. The Bears are in a good spot in the draft, not really needing one position especially bad.  With that being said, the Bears will probably pick a left tackle or Ashton Jeanty if he is available.
